Before · Chief Everything Officer

Everything runs through you.

After · Modern CEO

The business knows what to do.

“Day off” means working from your phone.
A day off is really just…a day off.
You are the fire department for every small thing.
Small things get handled without reaching you.
Growth stops at exactly your personal bandwidth.
Growth is no longer capped at one person's hours.
A vacation requires a disaster-recovery plan.
You leave. The business barely notices. Rude. And glorious. ;)
CEO + fire department.
Still CEO. Finally free.
The Chief Everything Officer era ends here.

You shouldn't have to do it all to have it all.

CEO. Manager. Customer support. Project manager. Marketing. Sales. HR. Seven roles, one calendar. And absolutely no mystery about why you're tired.

Wait — is this a book about AI?

Well. It's 2026. We're not going to give you a book about cloning yourself and pretend AI isn't in the room.

But no, this is not 300 pages of prompts or a breathless promise to automate your humanity away.

This is a book about running your company well: clear systems, real ownership, a stronger team, and your time back. AI is part of that now. It helps capture your thinking, expand your bandwidth, and move faster.

The transformation is bigger than an AI too. Imagine running a business than knows how to operate without you holding on for dear life.

Human leadership.
Modern leverage.
More freedom.

Introduction · The First Time I Cloned Myself

The First Time I Cloned Myself

Lilly, my first daughter, was born during Christmas break my freshman year of college. Two weeks later, I packed up my life and moved back to campus with a newborn. My family lived three hours away, and my boyfriend (now husband) was making plans to enlist in the Army.

Most people thought I was making the biggest mistake of my life.

The building manager at my new on-campus studio apartment didn't even try to hide it. He walked me through my tiny on-campus apartment, pointed out the walls like they were made of glass, and said, “Quiet hours start at 10 p.m.” Then he just stood there, staring at me longer than necessary. Not curious or concerned. Judging.

How to Clone Yourself

If I'm being honest, I wasn't entirely sure he was wrong.

I had a baby, a full course load, and no room for things to fall apart. Everything in my life suddenly depended on one thing, doing more without taking on more. There was no backup plan and no one was coming to save me.

At first, I tried to do it all anyway.

I told myself I could handle it; that I should handle it. I waited until I was completely overwhelmed, sitting on the floor, crying on the thin, worn carpet before even considering letting someone else step in.

Introduction

What cloning actually means

When I tried to do everything myself, I doubled my workload. When I trusted other people, things got done better, often faster, and with more care than I could have ever managed on my own.

That season of my life was the first time I really understood what “cloning myself” meant. Not just duplicating effort or managing my schedule better, but intentionally choosing where I would spend my time and attention. Focusing on those things only I could do, and graciously sharing the rest with people who could do it better in that moment.

How to Clone Yourself
Eventually, I realized that delegation isn't responsibility neglect. It's respect.
The lesson went beyond that studio apartment. It impacted how I studied. How I worked. How I built my businesses. How I live my life today.

It shows up anywhere something needs to grow without breaking you in the process.

Before you clone yourself

A client, one year later

She came back to me later and told me her business was doing better. More than that, her marriage stabilized and the pressure at home eased. So much so, that her husband was inspired enough by her to start a business of his own too.

That's when I knew, when your business runs well, your life runs better.
Shift to the Modern CEO mindset

The “do more, be more” epidemic

There's an epidemic running through small businesses. I call it the “do more, be more” epidemic, and it's keeping people stuck.

We do, do, do. Go, go, go. Always moving, always adding, always chasing the next thing, calling it productivity while silently wondering why we're still so tired. All in a hurry to arrive somewhere that never quite feels like enough.

Phase 1 · Step 3

The $100 Bills Superpower

Imagine that the money will only be blowing in for 30 seconds: $1 bills, $5 bills, and $100 bills, all flying in at once. Grab what you can. What you grab is what you keep.

If someone blows cash into the room you are in right now for 30 seconds, you'd go after the $100 bills, right? Yet, somehow owners and founders spend so much of their day wandering around picking up $1 tasks.

$100 Bill Filter

With even a simple strategy, such as focusing only on the $100 bills, it is entirely possible to walk away with $500 or more. Grab $100 here. Pluck another $100 there. Being intentional stacks the $100 bills fast, even under pressure.

Without a strategy, yes, you might still end up with a pile of cash. When you finally stop and count it, the result tells a different story: a shirt stuffed full of $1 bills, a few $5 bills, and maybe a single $100 bill mixed in.

Ask yourself this at any moment of any day: Is what I'm focused on right now a $100 bill? If not, stop. If yes, keep going.
Phase 1 · Step 3 · The exercise

The $100 Bill Filter

For all of those times you have said, I don't know what to outsource or systematize first, this filter will help you get clarity. This tool eliminates guessing and it allows you to move forward seamlessly to reorganize your business and stop being the bottleneck.

Sort activities from your Time Inventory into four categories:

  • 1Keep As Is — It works. You enjoy it. It fits your Modern CEO role.
  • 2Hand It Off & Delegate — You hate it. It drains energy. It takes too long.
  • 3Fix It Once & Systematize — It works, but it's repeatable and needs structure.
  • 4Delete It — It's a $1 bill. It isn't impacting your results.
Worksheet · Sort your time inventory

Separate the page into four columns and put each task where it belongs.

Keep it
Delegate it
Systematize it
Delete it

Hate it and spend a lot of time on it? Delegate it. Hate it and spend a little time on it? Delegate it even faster.

Phase 2 · Step 6

The Freedom Map

It took about 20 minutes with a simple spreadsheet to shine a light on what was really happening. She mapped every major activity in her business, every person on her team, and who was doing what. When she finished, she sat back and stared at the screen.

There was her name, over and over again.

How to Clone Yourself

Not all in the doing column. She's a small business owner afterall. But her name was also all over ownership too. Almost everything, even the work she'd handed off, still had her name next to it as the owner. If something went sideways, everyone and everything was pointing right back to her.

She'd been so focused on sharing the work that she'd missed the part where she never actually let go of it.
Phase 2 · Step 5

The test every system has to pass

Document one of them this week. Voice memo, Scribe, or just type it out. Capture every step, every login, every decision point.

Send it to someone and ask: “Could you follow this without asking me a single question?” The answers will tell you everything.
The Business Freedom Playbook

The documented system doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to exist. You can't improve what's still only in your head.

Your 3-Minute Move to Get a Quick Win

Start with one process — the simplest one you can think of. Set a three-minute timer and dictate it out loud, exactly as you do it. It can be rough. It's supposed to be rough. The goal today is just to get something out of your head and onto the page.

Your AI Clone Team

Does this task require a human?

Take the tasks you've just documented from your time inventory, your Freedom Map, your newly built systems, and run them through one question: does this task require a human?

Not, could a human do it? Does it require one?

If the work needs genuine empathy, nuanced judgment, complex relationship building, or a real person on the other end for the client experience to hold up, that's a human task. Protect it and hire for it.

AI isn't a separate department

Chewy, the pet supply company, has a team dedicated to sending handwritten condolence cards when a customer's pet passes away. That is a human task. Not because a card couldn't be written another way, but because if a grieving customer ever suspected the card wasn't genuine, the damage would be irreversible.

You cannot automate sincerity.
Phase 5 · Step 15

The genie effect

It's the morning you wake up and look around at your actual life and realize that what you're living is what you used to ask for. The thing you put on the vision board and then felt a little embarrassed about because it seemed too big.

Not a dramatic finish line. Not a single moment where everything clicks into place. Just an ordinary Tuesday that finally feels exactly how you always imagined it.

The Best Part

Last spring break, my daughters, Audrey and Harper, and I jumped off cliffs in Malta into water so blue it barely looked real. We bobbed on a boat in the Adriatic, covered in sunblock and laughing, the three of us arguing about who was jumping off the cliff first. My phone was in my bag. My team had what they needed. The systems were running.

You don't have to earn the space. You literally built it.

  • You own a growing business — and too much of it still lives in your head.

  • You want to grow without trading every open hour for the next revenue milestone.
  • You know the next version of your company needs a different version of your role.

Amber McCue laughing
Hi, I'm Amber McCue

I built this because I wanted to make it home for dinner.

I went from overwhelmed, overworked, and stuck in the weeds to building a multi-million-dollar business that could run without me.

Now I help smart, ambitious founders turn what's stuck in their heads into systems, teams, and AI-powered ways of working that multiply their impact and their profit — not their hours.

Because you can have ambition and ease, revenue and a life, modern leverage and deeply human leadership. And yes, I really do work a 24-hour week.

Founder. Operator. Professional disappearing act.
Cloning founders since 2013 — the OG cloning team.
What comes after the book?

The method first. Then the extra boost.

Focus on the $100 bills! Book first. Bonuses next. We'll introduce the entire AI team when you're ready.

Questions, questions

The fine print. But make it useful.

Is this actually different from every other "delegate more" book?

Yes. Delegation is one part of the method — not the whole method. You'll first identify the work, redesign how it flows, create systems, decide what belongs with people versus AI, transfer ownership, and learn what to do when the handoff gets messy.

Print or digital — what's the difference?

Print copies are ordered right here on our site, and every presale option above is print. The digital copy is on Amazon. If you order digital, come back and submit your receipt so we can log your gifts and your giveaway entry.

When is my order processed?

All orders are processed when the book goes live on October 6, 2026. Your Clone Kit and 24-Hour Work Week bonus unlock as soon as you order.

Why is this book coming out now?

Because we've been at this a while. The first version of this book was written more than ten years ago. We updated it in 2018 and still didn't publish it. Now, in 2026, with AI on the team and the method proven across a thousand businesses, it's finally the right moment to really dig into how to clone yourself. Consider us the OG cloning team.

What happens after I buy?

Bring your receipt back here to redeem. Your Clone Kit and the 24-Hour Work Week bonus unlock right away, and your giveaway entry is logged for the October 6 drawing.

When does the book come out — and when do bonuses disappear?

The book launches October 6, 2026. Presale bonuses are available through October 5 and disappear when the presale closes.

What if my Team Pack team is remote?

That's the common case. The Book Club + Team Guide is built for distributed teams, and books can go to multiple addresses.

Is this only for people with employees?

No. It works whether you're solo with AI as your first teammate, about to make a first hire, or already leading a full team.

Is this an AI book?

AI is in it, because it's 2026. But the book is about running your company well — systems, ownership, a stronger team, and your time back. AI is one of the ways work moves, not the point.

Do the "Us for a Day" slots really cap at five?

They do. It's a three-hour engagement inside your real business, and five is what fits alongside the launch.

Can I purchase more than 100 books or invite Amber to speak?

Yes. Use Build your own for any quantity, and for 50+ books Amber is happy to share How to Clone Yourself live with your group.
